ouch.

today nathan got punctured by a nail while helping his dad load up some stuff. he came into the house crying and wounded. poor guy! his mom carefully cleaned up the wound, covered it with a magical band-aid, sprinkling love and tenderness as she went. he still was super sad and hurt. i tried to talk to him and tell him some stories and ask him some questions to get his mind off things. but, it ended with a bad memory in more tears than before..man, i've got to work on my skills. anyway, it got me thinking about mike and his help to keep me from crying.

Once upon a time on a saturday night paul and sarah's family and i were going to watch a movie. i had come home early from work the night before because i was very, very sick. i had spent all saturday in bed. mike came over after work with gatorade and sprite for me, also to watch the movie. it was that owl childlren's movie.. i can't think of the name. anyway, i was still so achy and freezing cold throughout the movie, after it was over i wasn't able to sleep. the achiness turned to lots of pain. everyone had gone to sleep, but mike stayed with me to keep me warm. i got up to puke a couple times too throughout the night, but mike still stayed with me (keep in mind, we had only been dating like a five weeks). he ended up helping me to my bed that night and leaving so he could get some sleep. i woke up in the middle of the night crying cuz i was in so much pain. i called my mom. she told me to wake up my brother so he could give me a blessing and to take some medicine--if the pain was still bad in the morning then to go to the doctor. fifteen minutes before the doctor opened on sunday morning, mike was there to take me. as we sat in the doctor's office waiting, all i could do was cry. i don't remember being in so much pain in all my life. we were waiting for test results to come back in. mike was sooo cute and tried to help me take my mind off the pain by telling me stories of him growing up. it helped a lot. after the doctor gave me a couple shots and prescribed me some drugs we were out of there. mike dropped me off and went to the store to fill my prescriptions. he came back and we watched moulin rouge. he took care of me all week--getting my medicine, bringing me food and drinks, watching stupid movies or tv shows with me, heating up my rice pack, giving me massages, keeping me warm. it was then that i realized his incredible capacity for love and service. he continues to love and serve me everyday.

each day teaches me more about mike and the kind of man he is, the humor he possess, the work ethic he displays, the integrity he's gained, and the love he shows. where did this wonderful man come from? if you must know the answer to that, he is from st george and was raised by two amazing parents and taught by four incredible sisters (total side note that i can blog about at another time).
